Carl Sagan was an an amazing astronomer. He lead the world with quotes which made us think. Although not all of them would make us think about good things. I have chosen 1 sentence from "The Pale Blue Dot" to write about. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. In my mind, this sentence represents how small we humans really are. Throughout the video, he makes points that make us question the value of our existence. Questions like, "What would the world look like if we were kind to one another and the earth?" However, this sentence blatantly explains the truth. With no sugar-coat to make it sound like we actually matter in this universe. This sentence reminds you that every soul that has ever lived, was on this planet. (At least to our current knowledge). Every memory of every human ever, occurred on this planet, or in some extreme, cases on the moon. This makes you believe that the earth is a massive place, both physically and mentally. It holds everything we've ever had. All dreams, all hopes, all thoughts happened on our planet. So it must be incredibly important in the grand scale of things, right? After all, without it's contributions, life would never exist. However in the next paragraph we are reminded of what the "Pale Blue Dot" is. "The Pale Blue Dot" is the earth. The earth is 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000003% of the entire universe. Again, I remind you that everything we have is on this dot.
This whole thing makes me think about something else. Everyone ever, was born on that planet. So it makes me think of all the things and people that were created here. We all share the same birthplace, no matter what year or place you're born at. You me and everyone else was born at the same place as Albert Einstein, Gandhi, Mother Teresa and many other people. While also sharing the same birthplace as Hitler, and Nero. That alone makes you realize that anyone can become anything if they try their best.

Come on, come on come on! Yes! (Door shutting noise). Well finally she's gone, I hate test days. The teacher always takes so long to mark the tests, and she ends up leaving super late. Oh, yeah, I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Chewi, Chewi the desk. Although for some reason, my name tag says Aryan on it. Anyways, i'm here to tell you about the secret life of desks. If you didn't know, we desks live a life of danger and action. Which means we sleep for about 8 hours a day, and live throughout the other 16 hours by not even moving a muscle. The thing is, i work in something called a school. I don't know what it is, or what happens it, but I know that i work in it! The job of us desks is to store items possessed by our owners. Otherwise known as "students. My student is extremely messy so I like to punish him sometimes, by eating his pencils and pens! You should see his face when he starts to look for his pencils! I like to spend my time by making conversations with my neighbours. My desk to the right, is Alfredo! He's awesome. He loves to sing. and he's pretty good at it. Once my owner left his tablet in me, and I took that to my advantage. I recorded a video of Alfredo singing, and i sent it to Desks got Talent Nationals. He got in! The competition starts in a couple months, so you can imagine that the excitement is overwhelming for us. Other times, I like to play basket - binder with Fernando, my desk to the left. This is how you play. First. you grab your owner's binders or duotangs, and proceed to chuck them at the wall. The person who has the most damage on the binder/duo tang at the end, wins. Also, we desks have our own educational program, if you that humans are smart, guess again. What happens, is that the teachers desk, sends out another copy of the homework given to our owners. Then we hide it behind all the other junk inside us, and begin to work on it. When the student comes the next day, we swap their sloppy trash homework, with our professional grade-A homework. Where would humanity be without us?
A totem pole is made up of symbolic carvings. People who carve their totems, take time and pride in choosing what they carve. In Cole’s case, he is struggling with picking what to carve for his bottom space. I believe he should carve Peter Driscal’s face for his final carving. Cole punching Peter is what sent him to the bars for the last time. After punching Peter, the circle attempted to heal him by banishing him to an isolated island. Where he was mauled by a spirit bear and started his healing. Most importantly, after getting mauled, he learned to forgive. After healing in Minneapolis, he went back to the island to truly heal himself. In which he succeeded. If it wasn’t for Peter, Cole never would’ve done those things. So, he never would’ve healed. Having Peter’s face at the bottom of the pole would remind him of his life before and how far he’d come from then. It would also make him think about Peter even more, compelling him to help the broken boy. Broken because of Cole. At the island, he learned to forgive those who hurt him. Now Cole needs to be forgiven by the ones he hurt.
Cyber-bullying has always been a big problem for school-goers around the world. It has even happened once at my own school, at least once that I know of. Even though it happened once, and stopped after a week or two. It was a huge problem for at least 2 weeks.
I thought that this movie was different from any other cyber-bully movie, because it showed us what happened to the bully. After torturing the victim, the bully got exposed. The bully received an incredible amount of hate immediately after getting exposed. These days, we know that cyber-bullying is enough to get you arrested, however this movie showed a terrifying era of time, in which cyber-bullying was completely fine to do. Think of a world like that. If someone said something mean to you online or accused you of something you didn't do, you have to live with it. Many times at seminars and assemblies, we've been told to tell the police or your teachers about being bullied or cyber-bullied. BAck in the days of the movie, you couldn't tell anyone. This movie showed what can really happen in a cyber-bullying situation. Anything from losing friends to attempting to commit suicide. Today, I shall be talking about the significance of Cole's threatening glare towards Peter. I believe, that Cole gave this stare to Peter, to test the waters. You know, like putting your foot in the water to see how cold it is. Well, I imagine, that Cole was testing one thing from the stare. He was testing whether or not Peter was still afraid of him. For example, if Peter wasn't scared of him, and maybe even stuck his tongue out at Cole, well then Cole would be expecting Peter to be very prepared for the Healing, and maybe have many things in his defense, while having a heavy offense towards Cole. If Peter didn't get scared on the other hand, Cole would know that Peter hadn't prepared too much for this event, and still feared of Cole. That is what ended up happening. Cole gave the stare towards Peter, and Peter was terrified of him. So Cole was rather relaxed for the event. Later on, when it was Peter's turn to talk. He was definitely nervous, and afraid to be talking to people of such a high authority. I think, that if this theory is true, Cole is actually a very clever boy. If I was in his situation, I definitely wouldn't have done that, and I would've been terrified, yet curious of what the outcome would be. To sum things up, I would say that Cole gave the stare to Peter, to test if he was prepared or unprepared for the event, which would mean that Cole would be able to talk in front of the circle, without being nervous, because he knows what is going to happen next.
What is the significance of the title being three cups of tea? Well, somewhere in the middle of the book, Haji Ali says something very important to the stated question above. Haji Ali explained the rules of having tea. He said that the first time you have tea with a family, you are considered a stranger. The second time you have tea with a family, you become an honored guest to the family. Finally, the third time you have tea with a family, you become family. I believe that when Greg came up with this title, he intended for the title to represent his second family, with his people in Korphe. Throughout the book, he actually refers to the Haji Ali group as his second family. To summarize everything above, I'd say that Greg made the title, three cups of tea, to refer to his second family, while also showcasing a Korphe custom.
